The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has solicited the Speaker from the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to utilize his office to enable Lagos to recover its properties which were seized by the Federal Government.
Akiolu said he had “substantial archives” to lay cases to the properties, which he said were taken during the military period.
He talked when the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, drove the Speaker on a politeness visit to the ruler on Saturday with his appointee, Idris Wase.
The conventional ruler stated, “We have a list of solicitations from the Federal Government, from exceptional status for the state to the arrival of all properties having a place with the Lagos Government which were removed by military fiat. We need the properties to be come back to us.
“I have archives in my ownership, which go back the extent that 1800s, demonstrating the responsibility for the property from CMS Grammar School to the First Bank working in Lagos. These properties are required for the improvement of our kin.”
Prior, while accepting the Speaker at the Lagos House, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu depicted the decision of Gbajabiamila as Speaker as an extraordinary accomplishment for the state.
“We realize that you will work for the benefit of the nation,” he said.
The senator educated the Speaker that Lagos merited more from the Federal Government and said he trusted that Gbajabiamila would utilize his situation to better the part of the state.
Reacting, the Speaker guaranteed to be reasonable for each Nigerian in his organization of the House of Representatives.
Gbajabiamila and his appointee were joined during the visits by numerous individuals from the green chamber from different areas of the nation.
