At the Commonwealth Games in 2022, Odunayo Adekuroye and Blessing Oborududu successfully defended their wrestling championship.

Adekuroye won the gold medal in the 57kg division by defeating Anshu Malik of India 7-3.

Since winning her first medal in 2014, the Ondo-born wrestler has never lost a match in the Commonwealth Games.

Another talented wrestler, Oborududu defeated Canada’s Linda Morais 5-1 to win a Gold medal in the 68kg category.

Oborududu also emerged top in the same category four years ago in Gold Coast, Australia.

In the Women’s Freestyle 62kg category, Esther Kolawole claimed a bronze medal after dispatching his Canadian opponent, Abbie Fountain.
