The group, under the aegis of Concerned Citizens led by Peter Okolie, lamented that “in the past 10 years, it is on record that no borehole sunk by Oshimili North Council either at the health centres ever function for the benefit of the people”
While speaking on Thursday at Ibusa, Okolie urged the state government to provide necessary machinery in motion, in order to rehabilitate and renovate all the water boreholes in the health centres, as well as providing potable water to communities.
He stressed that the overall essence of local government system was to bring the activities of local government to the grassroots, urging the council chairmen to restore the confidence of the people by providing dividend of democracy to the communities for the sake of posterity.
He emphasised that in the past, local government council were known for grading of communities roads, provision of water, and even pay WAEC/GCE examination fees for indigent students as well as provide essential amenities to the people but today these facilities are in a pipe dream especially in Oshimili North area.
