EPL: Mark Lawrenson predicts Leeds United vs Man City, Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Former Liverpool defender, Mark Lawrenson, has predicted some of today’s Premier League matches.

Lawrenson backed Manchester City to beat Leeds United when both sides clash on Saturday evening at Elland Road.

He also said that Chelsea would defeat Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

“Leeds are still strengthening their squad but the one thing you can be sure about with all of their signings is that they can run,” Lawrenson wrote in his column for BBC Sport.

“Marcelo Bielsa’s side has been fabulous so far, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how he approaches this game against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

“City looked unprepared in their defeat to Leicester last weekend, which is most unusual for them under Guardiola – I’m pretty sure it won’t happen again here.”

On the Chelsea vs Palace match, Lawrenson said: “Chelsea have been very skittish so far, and even in the game they won, against Brighton, they gave up a lot of chances.

“Chelsea always looks like scoring, but defensively they’ve been all over the place. I do think they’ll improve at the back, though, once Thiago Silva settles in and has a regular partner because he’s a proper player.

“So, I’m going to go with them to break down Palace – they’ve definitely got the tools to do that, even though the Eagles always keep things pretty tight.”

The kick-off time for Leeds United vs Man City is 5:30 pm, while that of Chelsea vs Palace is 12: 30 pm.
