Galatasaray physical trainer, Scott Piri is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the club’s newest signing, Oghenekaro Etebo regains full fitness ahead of season’s busy schedules, Fanatik can report.
Towards this end, Phiri has doubled up his training programs for the former Getafe midfielder who also train alone aside from general session he usually has with the rest of the team. Saddled with the sole responsibility of getting Etebo match fit and ready for Sunday’s Super Lig clash against Basaksehir, Phiri ensured the midfielder doubled up his speed, jumps while other physical conditioning we’re also carried out.The 24-year-old midfielder was dropped from the club’s opening game against Gaziantep, but he is in the race for his first official match on Sunday.
Impressed with his progress so far, coach Fatih Terim has continued to monitor his training closely and cannot wait to unleash the Nigerian against Basaksehir after being ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League qualifying clash against Nefti Baku. Galatasaray signed Etebo from England’s Stoke City on a one-year loan deal, but he requires a special training program for 10 days in a desperate bid to knock him back to full fitness. Etebo was on loan to Spain’s Getafe last season and produced one goal in 11 appearances. The 24-year-old also scored two goals and one assist in 51 games for Stoke City. In 2018, the Nigerian midfielder had joined Stoke City from Portugal’s CD Feirense for a transfer fee of €7.2 million ($8.5 million).
