Gareth Bale to Manchester United on loan? European football expert explains why Wales star is closer to Real Madrid exit than ever

Gareth Bale could move to Manchester United in January on loan as his relationship with Zinedine Zidane continues to worsen.

That’s according to European football expert Kevin Hatchard, who told talkSPORT the Real Madrid boss would need to find a replacement in order to make the deal happen.

Bale moved to the Spanish capital in 2013 after his incredible season with Tottenham Hotspur saw the north London side collect a world record fee.

Despite winning four Champions League medals and scoring 80 goals from 161 appearances, the 30-year-old from Cardiff has never won over the notoriously hostile Madridistas.

Bale was linked with moves to Old Trafford before even moved to Spain, with the rumours intensifying in recent seasons given how his relationship with Zidane has deteriorated.

And Hatchard, who correctly predicted West Ham would sign Sebastien Haller this summer, believes the Wales international has finally reached breaking point at the Bernabeu.

“Guillem Balague suggested that he [Gareth Bale] has got to the stage where the treatment by (Zinedine) Zidane is too much,” Hatchard told talkSPORT.

“He has had enough; the coldness between them is pushing him towards the exit. But we come back to the same conundrum therefore, that we had in the summer.

“Who can afford him and who will give Real Madrid the money they want to make it happen?

“Because Real did not just want to let him go for free. So when you have a contract like that massive and when you have a guy who is still a top performer.

“Even angry, he is still playing pretty well – the assists for Karim Benzema was outrageous.

“So those problems haven’t gone away, they won’t go away for a while.”

And when quizzed by Red Devils fan Andy Goldstein if a loan move was out of the question, Hatchard refused to deny  a short-term move would be ideal for the French boss.

“If Zidane gets a replacement, that kind of works for everyone,” Hatchard added. “If he is willing to do it, but, it’s whether Bale wants to go or not.

“Or, whether he wants to finish this once and for all and move permanently. Because he has a family, does he want to uproot for six months and then he doesn’t know where he is?”
