JUST IN: National Assembly Passes Bill To Make June 12 Democracy Day


The Senate has on Thursday agreed with the said Public Holiday Bill Act already passed by the lower House of Representatives, which affirmed June 12th as the new official Democracy Day.


This pursued an introduction of meeting report by Leader of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Lawan, at entire on Thursday.


In his comments, the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki put the meeting report to a voice vote and it was embraced by the legislators.

NAN reports that in the bill, which was passed by the House of Representatives on Nov. 26, 2018, the present vote based system date, which is May 29, was erased and supplanted with June 12.

On June 12, 1993, the presidential decision was held and declared to be the freest in the nation’s history.
