Kano State government headed by Abdullahi Ganduje has announced the extension of the lockdown imposed by one week to help combat the further spread of coronavirus in Kano.
Akahi News reported that the announcement of the extension of the lock made by Kano State Commissioner of Information, Mohammed Garba Night on Tuesday, 12 May.
The Kano State Commissioner of Information said the decision was reached after due consultation with the Federal Government and stakeholders in the health sector, adding that this measure is intended to further reduce the indiscriminate Person- to-person contact is considered as one of the main channels spread of this disease.
While acknowledging the consequences of the size of the public, the statement called for patience and support as the battle against the pandemic continues.
The statement also called on the people to continue to observe strict personal hygiene by washing hands regularly, wear a face mask and social distance.
