KATSINA – As part of efforts to address the alarming rate of unemployment in Nigeria, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in collaboration with other stakeholders, has trained over 10,000 women and youths in various skills.
Nasir Ladan Argungu, the Director General of NDE, disclosed this on Wednesday at the launching of an NDE empowerment programme for 220 persons in Katsina.

Argungu, represented by Yakubu Umar Mani, a director in the NDE, said the programme, which ran through the last quarter of 2018, is expected to be sustained.
He added that 1,500 persons were to be trained in various skills and 3,000 women empowered in cosmetology and beauty therapy.
He said similarly, 700 persons would be empowered under the NDE Micro Empowerment Enhancement Scheme (MEES), while 5,000 persons are to access the CBN Agro Business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS).
