MINNA – Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, distributed the sum of N3.8million to the next of kin of 10 officers of the Niger State Command who lost their lives in active service in the last four years.
The State Commandant, Mr. Philip Ayuba, disclosed this to newsmen at the Command’s state headquarters in Minna gave the names of the slain officers as Emeka Nwalozie, Sani Koko, Simon Audu and Haruna Shehu.

Disbursing the funds to family members of the slain officers, the Commandant said, “My command is deeply touched by the death of the officers who died while carrying out their statutory duties in a dignified manner and we raised the money to help their families”.
He gave the names of other officers who lost their lives in their places of primary assignment across Niger state as; Joshua Ali, Mohammed Yahaya, Kabiru Umar, Talatu Mohammed, Naomi Samuel and Asikele Yakubu.
“What we did was in line with the promise made by the Commandant-General of the NSDSC, Abdullahi Gana that wives and children of those who lost their lives on the line of duty will be recruited if they have the necessary qualifications and not above the required age limit”.
The Commandant described the late NSCDC officers as ‘men and women who were absolutely committed to their duties with no fear of contradictions’ and prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest.
The Commandant, however, sadness over the security situation in Niger state appealed to the public to continue to provide information to security agencies with the intents of tracking down criminals reminded all Nigerlites that issues of security should be everybody’s business.
