ONITSHA – Police operatives attached to Neni Division, Anambra Police Command, in collaboration with a vigilance group in the community, have arrested four robbery suspects who specialized in snatching motorcycles along Nri-Neni axis.
The suspects was arrested through a distress call to Nigeria Police and Anambra vigilance group by 1.30 p.m. on June 1, 2020,in their hide-out inside the bush at Nri by Neni Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed , said the suspects, Francis EzeIbekwe, 22 , from Ikenga village Adazi Ani; Ndubuisi Kaliaozor, 20, from Agbadama village Nri; Ugoji Chibuzor, 19,from Uruofolo village Nri and Elochukwu Anyaoke, 29, from Umuowelle village.
The suspects were arrested after allegedly robbing one Nnamdi Ebegbe of his motorcycle with Registration Number NSK 426 QJ, his phone and unspecified amount of money after chopping part of his right ear with a knife.
The exhibits recovered from the suspects include one cutlass, one motorcycle and a phone belonging to the victim.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang, has urged the motorcycle/Keke riders in the state to be wary of such syndicates in order not to fall victims.
He said the case was under investigation after which the suspects would be brought to justice.
