Super Eagles Coach Genort Rohr is set to hand competitive debuts to Maduka Okoye, Kevin Akpoguma and Zeidu Collins against Sierra Leone during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benin later this evening.
According to sources from the Eterno Hotel and Suites abode in Benin City where the Super Eagles are camped – the boys are motivated to pick all three points.
After training last night, it looks increasingly likely that the German tactician will stick with the nucleus of the squad that executed recent friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia.
The will see Maduka Okoye keep his place over newly invited Sebastien Osigwe and veteran Daniel Akpeyi while Zeidu Collins will be preferred to Fulham’s Ola Aina and former German U-20 Captain Akpoguma selected at right back over late invitee Shehu Abdullahi. Victor Osimhen and Joe Aribo return to the starting line-up after missing the friendlies during the last international break.
Rohr is aware of the task ahead of him and has assured that his wards will be ready for the Lone Stars. He said: “We do not in any way under-rate the Sierra Leoneans that we play over two legs within these four days, but we have our focus and objective for the matches. We want to win both games so we can have the ticket and be able to be little more relaxed for the final games. You know that next year, we also have the World Cup qualifiers to focus on. It is better to get the AFCON job behind us now.

“I am excited by the spirit of the players and their sense of dedication and commitment. We have not played a competitive match in a year, but they look very ready and good to go. Our mission is the six points in these two matches.”
