Woman on Trial for Allegedly Zipping Boyfriend in Suitcase Leading to His De@th

Sarah Boone, accused of causing the de@th of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., by zipping him into a suitcase in February 2020, is now standing trial. Torres, 42, died over four years ago, and Boone appeared in court on Tuesday, October 22, to testify.

Boone recounted the events, stating that she and Torres had been playing a game of hide-and-seek on the night of his de@th. According to her, after hiding in an upstairs bathroom for some time, she returned downstairs to find Torres “settling himself into a suitcase,” attempting to hide. She claimed they both found it amusing that he could fit inside.

Boone testified that after zipping Torres into the suitcase, they continued to laugh and joke about it. She admitted to moving the suitcase around while Torres was inside, believing the situation to still be funny. However, things escalated when Boone, who had been drinking, began filming the incident. In the video shown in court, Torres can be heard calling out Boone’s name while trapped inside the suitcase. Boone, in the footage, responds by saying, “For everything you’ve done to me.”

During her testimony, Boone alleged that Torres had been abusive towards her in the past. She described how Torres struggled to free himself, with his hand briefly emerging from the suitcase. In response, Boone said she grabbed a baseball bat to push his hand back inside, claiming it was a “split-second reaction.”

Boone stated she eventually left Torres in the suitcase and went to bed, only to find him de@d the following morning. A forensic pathologist testified that Torres died from positional asphyxia and environmental suffocation, with his de@th ruled as a homicide.
