Alleged Plot to Storm Presidential Villa, Capture Tinubu Exposed: Suspects Detained as Investigation Concludes
Fresh revelations obtained by PREMIUM TIMES indicate a highly coordinated plot by suspected coup conspirators to seize Nigeria’s Presidential Villa, abduct President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other top government officials in a multi-pronged operation spanning key military and national assets.

Alleged Conspiracy: Decapitation Plan
Investigations suggest the alleged plot extended beyond earlier assassination rumours. The conspirators reportedly devised a multi-layered operation aimed at neutralising the top military hierarchy, taking over Aso Rock, and crippling Nigeria’s command structures. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas were also listed among the targets, along with the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and SSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi.
Sources describe the operation as “highly coordinated, with clear command structures, targets, and timelines,” involving at least 40 suspects including senior military officers, junior officers, and civilians assigned to strategic support roles.
Akahi News gathered that the plan was structured like a full-scale military takeover, with units designated to seize the Niger Barracks, Armed Forces of Nigeria Complex, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport simultaneously to prevent organised resistance.
Targeted Officers and Operational Roles
Specific assignments reportedly included:
- A.A. Hayatu, D. Yusuf, M.A. Usman, Binuga, A.A. Yusuf – strike team targeting the Presidential Villa
- Lieutenant Colonel S. Bappah – elimination of the Chief of Defence Staff
- Lieutenant Colonel P. Dangnap – neutralise the Chief of Army Staff
- A.A. Dauda – target the Chief of Air Staff
- Major Jiddah – eliminate the Commander of the Guards Brigade
Civilians, including an electrician, an ambulance driver, and Nollywood actor Stanley Kingsley Amandi, were allegedly recruited to support logistical and propaganda roles.
Weapons Cache and Arrests
Security agencies reportedly recovered a significant cache of weapons, including anti-aircraft guns, RPGs, machine guns, large ammunition stockpiles, and dozens of vehicles intended for rapid deployment. Many suspects were apprehended in a covert joint operation by Army Headquarters and the State Security Service, while others linked to logistics and financing are being investigated by the EFCC and SSS.
Defence Headquarters has confirmed that investigations are complete, highlighting the operation as a grave breach of military ethics and professional standards.
Families Demand Justice
Families of detained suspects have publicly challenged the official narrative, claiming their relatives have been held for over 160 days without fair trial. They demand open trials and access to the detainees, warning against “trial by media” and questioning inconsistencies regarding alleged funding links.
“We are not asking for favours. We are asking for justice, transparency, and the truth,” said one family representative.
With investigations concluded, the next phase focuses on prosecution, though it remains unclear whether the trials will be public or conducted under closed military proceedings.
