Atiku Declares ADC as Nigeria’s Hope Ahead of 2027 Elections
Amid growing turbulence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has asserted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) stands as the only viable option to rescue Nigerians from the hardships under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

Speaking in Jalingo during the official opening of the ADC state secretariat, Atiku emphasised that while the ADC is positioned to secure a decisive victory in the 2027 general elections, citizens must actively participate to be counted among those driving the nation toward meaningful change.
He stated, “All Nigerians must tag along to be counted among those to rescue the nation from its present predicament.” Atiku also used the occasion to urge all eligible voters, particularly in Taraba State, to register and obtain their voters’ cards, highlighting that any desire to effect government change in 2027 would be futile unless citizens are equipped to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Atiku further criticised the current APC administration, alleging that it has done little to improve the welfare of Nigerians. He added that the cadre of leaders in the ADC are capable and would perform better when entrusted with power at both the centre and sub-national levels come 2027.
Akahi News gathered that the Taraba State Chairman of ADC, Hassan Adamu, echoed the former Vice President’s sentiments, asserting that the ADC has become a preferred alternative for residents of the state. He expressed confidence that the party would offer credible leadership in the forthcoming elections.
The event also featured the formal inauguration of the ADC state transition committee, with Senator Abubakar Tutare appointed as chairman and Barrister Haruna Kwetishe serving as secretary. Political analysts observing the event noted that ADC’s organisational efforts in Taraba signal a growing momentum ahead of 2027, positioning the party as a formidable contender in both local and national contests.
The former Vice President’s remarks underline the importance of citizen participation and voter education as central to Nigeria’s democratic process. By focusing on active engagement, Atiku Abubakar and the ADC are signalling their commitment to presenting a credible alternative to the electorate.
