The Osun State chapter of the Association of Tutorial School Operators (ATSO) on Friday, December 19, 2025, held its first official online meeting, marking a significant milestone in the life of the newly inaugurated state body.
Akahi News gathered that the historic meeting was conducted on the association’s official WhatsApp platform and commenced promptly at 8:30pm with an opening prayer, setting a solemn and purposeful tone for deliberations.

ATSO Osun Now Legally Recognised
In his opening address, the Governor of the Association, Alhaji Ishola Adekunle Morufu, expressed deep appreciation to members for their cooperation and commitment since the formation of the Osun chapter.
He disclosed that following the official inauguration of the state chapter by the national leadership of ATSO, the Osun State chapter is now fully and legally recognised.
According to him, this recognition places the association on a stronger legal and administrative footing, enabling it to operate officially and engage relevant stakeholders in the education sector across the state.
Akahi News learnt that the Governor also used the opportunity to sensitise members on the importance of unity, discipline, and collective responsibility, urging all tutorial school operators under the association to continue working together for the growth of ATSO Osun.
Appreciation for Successful Inauguration in Osogbo
Speaking during the meeting, Mr Ademola Adedoyin, Director of Demol Institute, who also serves as the State Treasurer and Chairman of the Ile-Ife Zone, tendered his unreserved appreciation to all members.
He commended the cooperation and sacrifices made during the recent state inauguration held in Osogbo, an event that attracted members of the national executive council of ATSO.
Mr Adedoyin described the ongoing online meeting as a welcome development and expressed optimism that such engagements would strengthen communication, unity, and effective decision-making within the association.
Financial Commitment Identified as Key to Progress
Deliberating on how to move the association forward, the Secretary of the Association and Director of Excel Tutors emphasised the need for financial commitment among members.
According to Akahi News, he proposed the introduction of an annual due, stressing that sustainable funding is essential for the association to function effectively, organise programmes, and represent members’ interests at both state and national levels.
The proposal sparked extensive deliberations among members, with contributions from various participants before a final decision was reached.
Annual Due Pegged at ₦12,000
At the end of the discussions, the house unanimously agreed that each registered member of the association should pay an annual due of Twelve Thousand Naira (₦12,000).

The Governor further clarified that payment should be made during the peak income season of tutorial operations or before major examinations such as WAEC and JAMB.
He noted that the period between January and April is considered ideal for the payment of annual dues, as tutorial centres usually experience increased enrolment during that timeframe.
Revenue Sharing Formula Approved
In another key resolution, the house agreed on a revenue-sharing formula for the annual dues collected.
Akahi News gathered that the agreed sharing structure allocates:
- 60% to the Zonal level
- 40% to the State level
- 2% to the National body
The decision, according to members, is aimed at strengthening grassroots operations while ensuring effective coordination at the state and national levels.
Plans to Create More Zones
The Governor also disclosed that the state executive council of ATSO Osun will meet before the end of the year to deliberate on the need to establish additional zones across the state.
He explained that creating more zones would bring administration closer to members at the grassroots, enhance participation, and promote development across all parts of Osun State.
Observers at the meeting noted that this move could significantly improve inclusiveness and operational efficiency within the association.
Attendance and Closing
The meeting, which lasted for nearly an hour, ended at 9:20pm with a closing prayer.
A total of 16 members were in attendance during the online session. However, Akahi News noted that the Deputy Governor of the Association was among the prominent officers absent from the meeting.
Despite the absence, participants described the meeting as successful and foundational, setting clear policies and direction for the future of ATSO Osun.
As the association consolidates its structures following national recognition, stakeholders believe that sustained cooperation, transparency, and financial discipline will be crucial to achieving its objectives and advancing tutorial education across Osun State.
