Bandits Attack Zamfara Mosque, Kill Five Worshippers, Abduct Others

At least five worshippers were reportedly killed when armed bandits stormed a mosque in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, during early morning prayers on Friday.
Witnesses Describe ‘Barbaric’ Attack
Akahi News gathered that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately on worshippers observing the dawn prayers, killing five people on the spot and leaving several others with varying degrees of injuries.
Eyewitnesses, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, revealed that the bandits also abducted an unspecified number of worshippers before fleeing into the nearby forest. Some of the injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment and are said to be responding positively.
One resident described the incident as “barbaric and inhuman,” lamenting the rising wave of insecurity in Zamfara communities despite ongoing military operations.
Police Yet to Respond
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, told Akahi News that he had not yet been briefed by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area at the time of filing this report.
Security Concerns on the Rise
Observers noted that this attack comes barely days after similar incidents were reported in neighbouring villages, raising fresh concerns about the safety of rural communities across Zamfara State.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the abductions or confirm the number of victims taken away by the attackers.
