How the Alleged Attack Happened

According to the police account, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 8:10 p.m.

The victim reportedly told the police that Abubakar had invited him to his house under the pretext of delivering a message.

However, upon arriving at the residence, the suspect allegedly accused the younger man of enticing his wife before attacking him with a cutlass.

The attack reportedly left the victim with a deep cut on his left hand. The suspect was also alleged to have punched him in the armpit with a horn.

The police further stated that the suspect allegedly pursued the victim as he made his way to the police outstation and assaulted him again.

The victim subsequently reported the incident, prompting police intervention.

Victim Hospitalised as Police Recover Cutlass

Following the report, police officers reportedly rescued the victim and rushed him to Rahama Primary Health Care Centre for medical attention.

According to the police statement, the victim was admitted to the facility and was responding to treatment at the time of the announcement.

The police also confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the cutlass allegedly used in the attack as an exhibit.

The recovered weapon is expected to form part of the evidence considered during the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault are being investigated by the authorities.

Police Begin Investigation

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The investigation is expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the appropriate legal action.

Although the suspect allegedly accused the victim of enticing his wife, the police statement did not establish whether there was any evidence supporting the accusation.

The allegation should therefore not be treated as an established fact or justification for violence.

Police Warn Against Criminality

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reportedly reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance against criminal activities.

He also reaffirmed the police commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The commissioner urged residents to remain law-abiding and provide credible and timely information to the police.

The incident serves as a reminder that allegations involving marriage, relationships or personal disagreements should be handled peacefully and through lawful channels.

Taking the law into one’s hands can expose individuals to serious criminal consequences and cause lasting physical and emotional harm.

The arrest of Mohammed Sani Abubakar follows an alleged cutlass attack on his 20-year-old neighbour in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly accused the victim of enticing his wife before attacking him and subsequently assaulting him again as he attempted to report the incident.

The victim was taken to a health facility, where he was receiving treatment, while the suspect was arrested and the alleged weapon recovered.
