Beatrice Akpala Engages Wanihem Youths Ahead of APC Primaries in Cross River State
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the anticipated primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, political stakeholders have begun engaging grassroots supporters to strengthen party structures and mobilise members for the next phase of the political process.

Akahi News gathered that the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Content Development and Archiving, Beatrice Akpala, recently held an interactive meeting with youths and other stakeholders in Wanihem Ward of Yala Local Government Area in Northern Cross River State.
The engagement formed part of ongoing consultations aimed at preparing party members and supporters for the forthcoming APC primaries as well as the broader political activities leading up to the 2027 general elections.
Grassroots Mobilisation Begins
Across Nigeria, political leaders and party officials have begun intensifying grassroots engagements as preparations gradually build towards internal party primaries. Political observers say such meetings are important in strengthening unity within party structures and ensuring that supporters remain actively involved in the democratic process.

In Wanihem Ward, the interactive session brought together youths, women, elders, party loyalists, and other community stakeholders who discussed the need for unity, commitment, and political preparedness ahead of the party’s internal contests.
Participants noted that consultations at the ward level remain crucial because local communities often play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of elections.
Wanihem Ward’s Political Significance
Wanihem Ward in Yala Local Government Area has continued to maintain a reputation as one of the politically active wards in the northern part of Cross River State.
Observers say the ward has consistently demonstrated strong participation in elections and has often delivered significant support to the ruling party during major electoral contests.
Akahi News learnt that the consistency of the ward’s political participation is largely attributed to the efforts of local political stakeholders who regularly engage the electorate and encourage active participation in governance.
Among such stakeholders frequently mentioned by party members is Beatrice Akpala, who is widely recognised for her grassroots mobilisation activities within the ward.
Akpala Urges Unity Among Party Members
During the meeting, Beatrice Akpala reportedly encouraged party members to remain united and focused as the APC prepares for its primaries.

She emphasised the importance of strengthening grassroots political structures and maintaining close communication between political leaders and the electorate.
Akpala also assured the people of Wanihem Ward that she would continue to maintain regular interactions with them in order to keep them informed about government policies, programmes, and development initiatives that affect their communities.
According to her, sustained engagement between government representatives and local communities is necessary for effective governance and improved public participation.
Community Members Express Appreciation
During the engagement, representatives of the youths, women, and elders expressed appreciation for what they described as the efforts of the Cross River State Government led by Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

They also highlighted several political appointments given to individuals from Wanihem Ward, describing them as recognition of the community’s contributions to the political development of the state.
Among those mentioned were Dr. Hippolatus Lukpata, Commissioner for International Donor Coordination; Dr. Fred Okem, Chairman of Yala Local Government Council; Hon. Jacob Onawo, Community Relations Officer for Yala II State Constituency; Beatrice Akpala, Special Adviser on Content Development and Archiving; and Rt. Hon. Dr. Ogana Lukpata, State Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
Community members noted that these appointments have strengthened the relationship between the state government and the people of Wanihem.
Looking Ahead to Future Elections
At the end of the gathering, participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the current administration in Cross River State and pledged continued political participation as preparations for future elections gradually gather momentum.
Political observers believe that grassroots consultations such as the Wanihem engagement will continue to play a significant role in shaping political dynamics in the state as party primaries and national elections approach.
Akahi News gathered that similar engagements are expected to continue across several communities in the state as political leaders strengthen their connections with supporters at the grassroots level.
