Canadian Returnee Arrested in Lagos for Assaulting Taskforce Officer During Traffic Violation

A 52-year-old Canadian returnee, Mr. Morufudeen Idowu, has been arrested by authorities in Lagos after allegedly assaulting a taskforce officer who apprehended him for illegally crossing the expressway at Ojota.

The arrest was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed the incident via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“Mr. Morufudeen Idowu, 52, a Canada returnee, refused arrest and assaulted one of our personnel while crossing the expressway at Ojota,” Wahab stated.
According to the Commissioner, Mr. Idowu was immediately taken into custody and transferred to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps office in Oshodi. He will face prosecution in accordance with the environmental and public order laws of Lagos State.
