The congregation of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel International, is filled with Heavenly joy as Bishop David Oyedepo celebrates his 70th birthday today, September 27th, 2024.

Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo is the Founder and Presiding Bishop of Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, and the President of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel International.

Winners Chapel International has a presence in every state in Nigeria and over 85 countries around the world. Bishop Oyedepo is also the Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, and Landmark University, Omu Aran, Kwara State. He serves as President of David Oyedepo Ministries International (DOMI) and the Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI). The church’s education network includes Covenant University Secondary School and Kingdom Heritage Model Schools.

To celebrate this monumental occasion, Bishop Oyedepo and the Winners family engaged in “Operation One Week Sacrifice for Souls,” spreading the Gospel and inviting people to meet Christ in various locations across Lagos and Ota throughout the past week.

The birthday celebration has been marked by daily thanksgiving and praise to Almighty GOD for HIS grace, which has kept Bishop Oyedepo strong in the faith. Notable personalities and music ministers, including Bishop David Abioye, Bishop Thomas Aremu, Dunsin Oyekan, Tope Alabi, Yinka Alaseyori, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Pastor Paul Enenche, Mercy Chinwo, and the Faith Tabernacle Choir, have joined in the festivities.

In a speech on Thursday, Bishop Oyedepo encouraged all present to adopt thanksgiving and praise as a lifestyle, using Jesus and Paul as examples of praise-filled living. He said, “Praise is a vital weapon in sustaining our redemptive status in the supernatural. When praise becomes your addiction, oppression will stop. Barriers are turned to signs and wonders.” Citing Psalm 114:3 KJV, he added, “The sea saw it and fled: Jordan was driven back.”

Bishop Oyedepo also emphasized, “We don’t talk about accomplishments in the Kingdom; we talk about engracement.” Quoting 1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV, he said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Many have expressed their best wishes and shared testimonies of how GOD has transformed their lives through Bishop Oyedepo, describing him as a father, prophet, living legend, and servant of GOD.

David Olaniyi Oyedepo was born in Osogbo, Nigeria, though he hails from Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Raised in a mixed religious family—his father, Ibrahim, was a Muslim healer, and his mother, Dorcas, was a member of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church—he grew up in Osogbo with his grandmother, who introduced him to Christian virtues through early morning prayers.

In 1969, David Oyedepo was led to Christ by a foreign missionary, Mrs. Betty Lasher (of blessed memory). He studied architecture at Kwara State Polytechnic and briefly worked with the Federal Ministry of Housing before resigning to focus on his missionary calling.

Bishop Oyedepo later earned a Ph.D. in Human Development from Honolulu University, Hawaii, USA. In May 1981, during an 18-hour vision, he received a divine mandate to liberate the world from the oppression of the devil through the preaching of the Word of Faith.

In September 1983, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David and his wife, Faith Abiola Oyedepo, as pastors, officially launching their ministry. Five years later, David Oyedepo was ordained as a Bishop.

In 2011, Forbes magazine recognized Bishop Oyedepo as the richest pastor in Nigeria, and later, the richest clergy in the world.

Under Bishop Oyedepo’s leadership, Living Faith Church is currently constructing the “debt-free” Ark Legacy Project. Scheduled for completion by November 2025, the 100,000-seat stadium-like sanctuary will be the largest Christian worship auditorium in the world. The project’s foundation was laid on March 25, 2021, and construction is progressing rapidly, with GOD’s hand evident in every aspect.
