A shocking incident unfolded in Coimbatore city on Sunday evening when a 24-year-old man allegedly attempted to murder his lover at her workplace in a private hospital. The woman, a 22-year-old nurse, sustained minor injuries to her fingers but survived the attack thanks to quick intervention by hospital security.

The accused, identified as A Sujith, a wall painter from Amman Kovil Second Street in Nagercoil, reportedly had been in a four-year relationship with the woman, who hails from Kesavanpudur near Azhakiyapandiyapuram in Kanyakumari district. According to police sources, Sujith became agitated after the woman avoided him for over a week and did not respond to his calls.
On Sunday morning, Sujith travelled from Nagercoil to Coimbatore and arrived at the hospital around 5 pm. Witnesses said he confronted the nurse near the staff hostel, arguing over her lack of communication. In a sudden escalation, he produced a knife and attacked her. The victim blocked the blow, resulting in minor injuries to her fingers, and raised an alarm.
Hospital security quickly intervened, restraining Sujith and alerting Race Course police, led by Inspector Arjun Kumar. The police arrived promptly, registered a case, and seized the weapon.
Sujith was subsequently arrested, remanded in judicial custody, and lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison on Monday afternoon. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the full circumstances behind the attack.
