Government Moves Decisively to Strengthen Security and Regulate Livestock Transit
The Cross River State Government has announced the revocation of the cattle movement permit earlier issued to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association for the transportation of cattle from Ebonyi State, through Cross River, to neighbouring Cameroon.
Akahi News gathered that the directive, which takes immediate effect, was issued on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, signalling the government’s renewed resolve to reinforce territorial security and prevent avoidable tensions across communities along the transit corridors.

The announcement was formally made by the Honourable Commissioner for Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, Ntufam Emmanuel Anom, who clarified that the cancellation supersedes and nullifies all previously granted permissions to the association.
A Proactive Security Strategy Anchored on Community Safety
According to the Commissioner, the revocation forms part of the State’s broader proactive security strategy designed to maintain peace, regulate cattle movement, and guard against potential threats associated with unauthorised or poorly monitored livestock transit.
Sources who interacted with Akahi News explained that the decision follows extensive consultations and security assessments, especially concerning rural communities vulnerable to unregulated cross-border livestock activities.
The government, in its official statement, reaffirmed that the safety and wellbeing of residents remain paramount, and it will not hesitate to institute further measures where necessary.
Security Agencies Put on High Alert
In line with the revocation, the Commissioner issued a firm directive to all security agencies, tasking them to bolster vigilance and ensure full compliance with the new government stance.
Security operatives have been instructed to block any cattle movement through Cross River territory, with immediate enforcement across checkpoints, border routes and rural tracks often exploited for transit.
Akahi News learnt that security formations across the State have already received communication mandating strict surveillance and rapid response to any attempted breach.
Public Assured of Government’s Commitment to Peace and Order
The government’s statement, dated 22nd November 2025, emphasised its unequivocal commitment to preserving law and order. It also assured the public that every necessary step is being taken to forestall disruptions, prevent security breaches and maintain the tranquillity for which the State is reputed.
Government insiders hinted to Akahi News that the revocation is part of a broader framework aimed at strengthening livestock regulation, curbing illicit movement, and protecting vulnerable agrarian communities.
Residents across Cross River State have expressed support for the decisive action, describing it as a long-awaited step towards consolidating peace and ensuring greater accountability in livestock administration.
