Doris Ogala to Chris Okafor: Marry Me or Buy Me a House — or I’ll Take Legal Action
Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has issued a dramatic ultimatum to popular cleric, Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Ministry, following the collapse of what she described as a seven-year romantic relationship.
Akahi News gathered that the controversy erupted after Ogala accused Okafor of abandoning a long-standing promise to marry her, only to become engaged to another woman — a development that has since triggered widespread reactions across social media and entertainment circles.

Actress Alleges Betrayal After Seven-Year Relationship
According to details originally reported by TheCable Lifestyle, Ogala claimed that her relationship with Okafor began in 2017 and was marked by repeated assurances of marriage. She further alleged that she ended her previous marriage at Okafor’s insistence, believing they were building a future together.
However, the actress said she was left shattered after discovering that the cleric had proposed to another woman, describing the experience as emotionally devastating and life-altering.
Akahi News learnt that Ogala has also accused Okafor of actions that negatively affected her mental health, emotional stability, and professional career during and after the relationship.
Claims of Emotional Trauma and Financial Neglect
Speaking in a strongly worded Instagram video that has since gone viral, Ogala alleged that throughout their seven to eight years together, the only financial support she received from Okafor was ₦300,000 — a sum she dismissed as grossly inadequate considering the length and depth of the relationship.
She further alleged that Okafor shared explicit videos of her without her consent, an accusation that has intensified public debate around privacy, consent, and power dynamics in intimate relationships.
‘Marry Me or Buy Me a House’
In the viral video, Ogala issued a clear ultimatum: Okafor must either marry her or “settle” her financially by purchasing a house, or she would pursue legal action.
Defending her stance, the actress argued that it is both legally and morally wrong for a man to promise marriage, disrupt a woman’s life, and walk away without consequences.
“Someone I dated for about seven to eight years dumped me to go and get married? Since 2017, the only money I collected from him was ₦300,000,” she said.
“My lawyer is already writing my demands. It is my right.”
Ogala further claimed that the relationship coincided with some of the darkest moments of her life, including the death of her brother and a period of incarceration, insisting that these experiences compounded the emotional damage she suffered.
Legal Action Looms
The actress maintained that she has evidence to support her claims, including proof of marriage promises, and confirmed that her legal team is preparing to formally present her demands.
Akahi News gathered that as of the time of filing this report, Chris Okafor has not publicly responded to the allegations or the ultimatum.
Public Reaction and Wider Implications
The controversy has sparked intense public debate, with opinions divided over the legality and morality of Ogala’s demands, as well as the broader issues of emotional accountability, broken promises, and gender dynamics in long-term relationships.
Observers say the unfolding situation could raise important legal and social questions about promises of marriage, emotional damages, and personal accountability in Nigeria.
Akahi News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more details emerge.
