Ekiti State Mourns Former Ido/Osi Chairman, Prince Adegoroye Olayisade, Hailed as Icon of Honour and Integrity
The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Chairman of Ido/Osi Local Government, Prince Adegoroye Olayisade, describing him as an enduring symbol of honour, contentment, and integrity whose contributions to grassroots development will remain etched in the state’s history.
Prince Olayisade, a respected elder statesman, politician, and royal son of Ido Ekiti, passed away on Thursday at the age of 85. His death, Governor Oyebanji said, was not only a personal loss to the people of Ido Ekiti but also a painful blow to the entire state.
Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased on Thursday, the Governor recalled the late leader’s exemplary service and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people during his tenure as local government chairman.
“Prince Adegoroye Olayisade was a royal personage — a man of contentment, honour, and distinction,” Oyebanji said. “He served his people selflessly when called upon and left behind a legacy that speaks volumes of his dedication to public service. I am proud of his achievements and pray that the Almighty grants his soul eternal rest.”
The high-powered government delegation, led by Prof. Adubiaro, included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Oyeniyi Adebayo, and the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, alongside other senior officials. The visit, according to the state government, was to convey heartfelt condolences and to stand in solidarity with the Olayisade family during their time of grief.
Chief of Staff Adebayo, himself a native of Ido/Osi Local Government, lauded the late chairman as a grassroots leader whose impact will be difficult to erase. He noted that Olayisade’s administrative acumen and people-centred leadership made a significant difference during his time in office.
“His imprints on the council are bold and indelible,” Adebayo said. “We pray for the fortitude for his family to bear this great loss and appreciate Governor Oyebanji’s show of empathy and support.”
Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Adedayo, also paid tribute to the deceased, commending his leadership style and the guidance he offered to the progressive political fold during his active years. He expressed hope that the principles and values Olayisade stood for would continue to inspire emerging political leaders, particularly from the Ido-Osi/Ilejemeje/Moba Federal Constituency.
The Olayisade family expressed deep gratitude to Governor Oyebanji and the entire state government for the solidarity and honour accorded to their late patriarch. They described the visit as a source of comfort in their period of mourning, assuring that his values of service, humility, and community development will be upheld by those he left behind.
Prince Adegoroye Olayisade’s death marks the passing of a leader whose political career was built on trust, fairness, and dedication to the grassroots — qualities that, according to many, will be sorely missed in Ekiti State’s political landscape.
