FCT Police Arrest Man Attempting to Supply 1,000 Rounds of Ammunition to Zamfara Bandits

Suspect Nabbed in Gwagwalada

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old man, Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly attempting to supply 1,000 rounds of ammunition to bandits operating in Zamfara State.

Police Commissioner CP Miller G. Dantawaye disclosed the arrest to newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday. He explained that the suspect was arrested on Monday around 3:30 p.m. by the command’s tactical team following credible intelligence at Unguwar Dodo in Gwagwalada Area Council.

According to the CP, preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar had been in contact with an associate, Yusuf Mohammed, as part of plans to procure and transport the ammunition to a forest hideout in Zamfara.

He further stated, “Our investigation revealed that he was sent by his uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, who is believed to be a key accomplice and currently at large, to purchase and transport the ammunition for criminal elements operating within their locality in Zamfara.”

Police Vow to Protect Residents

The FCT Police Commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and ridding the FCT and its environs of crime.
