The people of Nko Community in Yakurr Local Government Area, Cross River State, rolled out the drums in grand style as the Chairman of Abi Local Government Area, Hon. Egbala Bassey, was formally conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Obol Epe on Saturday.

The colourful coronation ceremony, which attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, community elders, youth groups, and hundreds of well-wishers, was described as a historic event that symbolises unity, progress, and the strengthening of cultural heritage in Cross River State.
Traditional Council Hails His Leadership Qualities
The Nko Traditional Council explained that the decision to bestow the revered Obol Epe title on Hon. Egbala Bassey was in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities, commitment to community development, and relentless pursuit of peace and unity among his people.
According to the Council, Hon. Bassey’s track record as Chairman of Abi Local Government Area speaks volumes, noting that his tenure has been marked by people-centred projects, youth empowerment initiatives, and programmes that have promoted communal harmony and economic growth across the region.
