Shocking Discovery in Ibaraki Prefecture

Authorities in Japan have arrested a 75-year-old woman, identified as Keiko Mori, after she allegedly confessed to keeping the body of her daughter in a freezer for two decades. The disturbing revelation was made on Tuesday, September 23, in Ibaraki prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, Akahi News gathered.

Police Investigation and Autopsy Plans

Police disclosed that Mori walked into a station accompanied by a relative to report that her daughter’s body had been in her house for years. Investigators followed her to the property, where they found the body of her daughter, Makiko, inside a deep freezer, dressed only in a T-shirt and underwear.

“Decay was advancing,” a police spokesperson confirmed, adding that an autopsy would be carried out to determine the cause and time of death.

Circumstances Surrounding the Case

Mori reportedly told investigators that a foul odour from her daughter’s remains prompted her to purchase the freezer years ago, in an attempt to contain the smell. She has since been arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body.

Police also revealed that the elderly woman had several children but did not disclose details about their involvement or knowledge of the incident. It was further learnt that she had been living alone following the death of her husband earlier this month.

Unanswered Questions and Public Reaction

The case has left authorities and the public stunned, raising questions about how the body remained concealed for so long and what circumstances led to the tragic death. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the mystery surrounding the decades-long concealment.

Akahi News will continue to monitor developments as the story unfolds.
