In a deeply spiritual and heartwarming moment that merged faith with national pride, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has celebrated one of its own, Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade, for her outstanding performance and recognition at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.
Amid joyous chants of “Jesus is King!”, the Power Must Change Hands service, a globally followed programme of MFM, turned into a celebration of divine favour and sporting excellence. Ajibade, who emerged as Woman of the Match and clinched a coveted WAFCON medal, presented her medal and accompanying honours to the General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya, during the high-profile gathering.
With eyes glistening with gratitude and her signature braided blue hair styled for the occasion, Rasheedat expressed profound appreciation to God for His faithfulness throughout her football journey, noting that her victories are a testament to grace, discipline, and unwavering prayer support from her church family.
“This is not just a medal for football,” Ajibade said. “It is a symbol of God’s unfailing love and the result of relentless prayers. I’m proud to carry the name of Jesus wherever I go, on and off the pitch.”
Dr Olukoya, visibly moved by the presentation, lauded the football star as a true ambassador of faith and perseverance. He described Ajibade as an inspiration to young Christians across Nigeria and Africa at large, stressing that excellence in any field is achievable when God remains the centre of one’s life.
“Rasheedat Ajibade has shown that you can shine both in the world and in the Spirit,” Dr Olukoya said. “We celebrate her as a shining light in sports and a model for Christian youth.”
As she lifted the medal before the cheering congregation, waves of applause and worship swept through the auditorium. Many congregants, especially the youth, took to social media to share photos and videos, declaring the moment a divine encounter blending sports, worship, and testimony.
Ajibade, who plays for Atlético Madrid in Spain, has become a household name not only for her skills on the pitch but also for her public devotion to her faith. She often celebrates her goals with religious symbolism and has previously acknowledged MFM’s foundational support in her career.
The event has sparked renewed hope among aspiring young athletes within the church and beyond, affirming that with faith, dedication, and discipline, international glory is attainable without compromising one’s spiritual values.
As the chants of victory continue to echo, Rasheedat Ajibade’s moment at MFM stands as a remarkable reminder that talent, when surrendered to God, becomes a vessel of honour for His glory.
