Eyewitnesses told Akahi News that the dispute began as an argument between two young men over the sharing of business proceeds. The confrontation escalated when one of the men allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the other to death.
Reports indicated that nearby individuals immediately attacked the suspect before he was eventually handed over to the police. The scene later degenerated into a riot, with groups of youths clashing until law enforcement restored order.

Police Clarification

Reacting to the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, dismissed speculations of an ethnic crisis between Yoruba and Igbo traders. According to him, investigations revealed that the fight involved miscreants and was not connected to ethnic differences.
Hundeyin confirmed that the deceased, identified as Sodiq Ibrahim from Kogi State, was fatally stabbed by Ebuka Adindu from Abia State. The suspect reportedly inflicted a stab wound on himself, lost consciousness, and is currently under police custody while receiving treatment in a hospital.

Hundeyin reiterated that the case is under investigation and that the suspect will be prosecuted once discharged from hospital care.
