As the sun rises on this Wednesday, 30th July 2025, Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi, Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Pro-Cathedral Church, Lagere, Ile-Ife, has once again stirred the hearts of the faithful with a deeply uplifting morning message, blending psalmic joy with sincere supplication.
Opening his reflection with the jubilant tone of Psalm 95 — “Come, ring out our joy to the Lord; hail the God who saves us. Let us come before Him giving thanks, with songs let us hail the Lord” — Fr Peter invited the faithful to begin the day in an atmosphere of joyful gratitude and spiritual anticipation.
The prayer that followed was a gentle yet profound appeal to the Almighty, offered on behalf of all those rising to meet the demands of the day. “God our Father,” he prayed, “early in the morning we rise up to praise you… Thank you for granting us a peaceful night rest and the privilege to wake up in good health.” He noted that although human thanksgiving adds nothing to God’s greatness, it is spiritually beneficial and essential for salvation.
With a heartfelt plea for continued divine guidance, Fr Peter called on the “God of eternal compassion” to help the faithful walk in His marvellous light. He asked that through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers may grow in purity of heart and deepen their spiritual lives day by day.
As many prepare to engage in their daily labour, Fr Peter’s message shifted to a prayer for favour, provision, and strength. “Grant us a favourable day of work. Fill us from your abundance in glory as we carry out our businesses and activities of today,” he implored, echoing the daily desires of countless Nigerians navigating the realities of work, family, and faith.
True to his pastoral mission, he concluded with his signature phrase of comfort and unity: “We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Praying for your intentions.” This final line encapsulates the spirit of spiritual solidarity Fr Peter continues to foster—assuring the faithful that their concerns are lifted in prayer, no matter how personal or private.
Fr Peter Adeyemi’s morning and evening reflections have become a dependable source of inspiration and comfort for many, helping Catholics begin and end each day rooted in the Word and sustained by prayer.
