The visibly distraught mother took to social media to express her pain, sharing photos that allegedly show her daughter’s back covered with multiple welts and bruises. She accused the teacher of excessive discipline and demanded that authorities take action.

According to her, the little girl had returned home from school crying uncontrollably, prompting her to inspect the child’s body — only to find several red marks believed to be from cane strokes.

“This is unacceptable! My child is only three years old. How can a teacher beat a baby like this?” she lamented in a video that has since gone viral.

Public Reactions and Calls for Accountability

The incident has triggered widespread condemnation from parents, rights activists, and online users, who are demanding that the authorities investigate and bring those responsible to justice.

Akahi News gathered that several commenters described the alleged act as child abuse, calling for stricter supervision and enforcement of laws protecting pupils in private schools.

A Facebook user commented, “Teachers should know the limits of discipline. This is not correction — it’s assault.”

Authorities Yet to Respond

As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Ministry of Education and law enforcement agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

However, child rights advocates have urged the Ministry to immediately intervene, stressing that such alleged brutality, if confirmed, violates both ethical and legal standards for early childhood education.

Observers believe the case underscores the urgent need for better monitoring of private schools across the state to ensure the safety and welfare of pupils.
