NCAA Condemns Mid-Air Clash Between Very Dark Man and Mr Jollof, Describes Behaviour as ‘Unacceptable’

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has strongly criticised the mid-air altercation involving popular content creators Very Dark Man and Mr Jollof, describing their actions as not only inappropriate but also a violation of aviation safety standards. The incident, which occurred aboard a commercial flight, has sparked wide public debate over the rising pattern of unruly passenger behaviour in Nigeria’s airspace.

NCAA Breaks Silence After Viral Mid-Air Dispute

In a statement released on X, the NCAA’s Director of Consumer Affairs, Michael Achimugu, condemned the conduct of both men, stressing that such behaviour was “unacceptable and unlawful”. According to the aviation regulator, the safety of passengers is paramount, and any actions that threaten peace aboard an aircraft will be treated with utmost seriousness.

Akahi News learnt that Mr Achimugu, who issued the statement while transiting through an airport, immediately demanded a detailed incident report from the airline. The report, as required by aviation regulations, will capture the sequence of events, the actions taken by the crew, and the final decision of the pilot.

Airline Directed to Submit Incident Report

The NCAA emphasised that the airline involved is obligated to file a formal incident report, which would be reviewed and forwarded to the legal unit for further action. Journalists gathered that this process is standard practice whenever an inflight disturbance has the potential to compromise safety.

Mr Achimugu revealed that he had requested additional information from his team, especially regarding whether the pilot continued the flight with the feuding men on board or decided to deplane them before take-off. A decision to continue the flight in such circumstances, Akahi News gathered, could attract regulatory sanctions if found to breach established safety protocols.

Passenger Safety Takes Precedence, Says NCAA

In his remarks, the Director of Consumer Affairs warned that the actions of the two content creators endangered other passengers and ran contrary to the NCAA’s ongoing sensitisation campaign against unruly behaviour in the aviation sector.

According to him, aviation remains a highly regulated environment where even the slightest disruption can pose significant risks. He stressed that airlines and passengers must cooperate fully with the Authority to ensure safe, orderly and respectful conduct during flights.

Akahi News further learnt that a full official statement will be released once all necessary details of the incident are compiled and verified.

Broader Concerns Over Rising Unruly Behaviour

Observers note that cases of unruly passengers have been increasing in recent years, prompting regulators to enforce stricter penalties. Analysts believe the latest incident involving two well-known public figures may reinforce the NCAA’s resolve to apply sanctions where necessary to deter future occurrences.

The Authority has repeatedly reminded passengers that misbehaviour aboard an aircraft is not only dangerous but also punishable under aviation law.

The controversy involving Very Dark Man and Mr Jollof has once again drawn attention to the need for discipline, calmness, and mutual respect aboard commercial flights. As Nigerians await the NCAA’s final decision, the aviation community continues to emphasise the importance of adhering to safety standards at all times.
