The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that Nigeria and the United States are jointly coordinating efforts aimed at ending terrorism and violent extremism across the country, amid growing concerns over persistent insecurity and loss of lives.
Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, made the disclosure on Wednesday while speaking on Arise Television, stressing that the collaboration is already in motion and focused on dismantling terror networks operating within Nigeria.

Akahi News gathered that the remarks come at a time when insecurity, banditry, and terrorist attacks continue to pose serious challenges to national stability and public safety.
Nigeria–US Partnership Against Terrorism
According to Morka, both governments are working “very closely” to ensure that terrorism is decisively defeated in Nigeria.
“What we know is that the US government and the Nigerian authorities are coordinating very closely in any effort to defeat terror in our country,” he said.
He described terrorism as one of the gravest sources of hardship facing Nigerians, noting that innocent citizens are frequently killed without justification.
“This is something that has brought hardship, pain, and misery to our people, where innocent citizens are slaughtered for no reason by these vile individuals, if they are citizens,” Morka stated.
Akahi News learnt that the APC spokesman emphasised that the collaboration is intelligence-driven and targeted at uprooting terror cells rather than symbolic engagement.
Tinubu’s Resolve to End Insecurity
Morka reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to deploying all necessary measures to eliminate terrorists and criminal elements threatening lives and property across the country.
According to him, the President remains resolute in ensuring that those responsible for violence against Nigerians are identified, confronted, and neutralised.
“I think whatever needs to be done is what the President is committed to doing to root out these people,” he added.
Akahi News gathered that the Tinubu administration has repeatedly vowed to strengthen security architecture through both local and international partnerships.
No Foreign Military Invasion — APC
Addressing public concerns that United States involvement could translate into foreign military intrusion, Morka dismissed such fears, describing them as unfounded in the current context.
He acknowledged that apprehension about foreign troops can sometimes be legitimate but noted that such concerns usually arise when host countries are excluded from key decisions.
“I understand those concerns, but in many cases, the concerns are valid where the countries in which these boots step are not at the table in making decisions,” he explained.
However, Morka insisted that Nigeria’s engagement with the United States does not fall into that category.
“That’s not the case here. In this case, this is a closely coordinated effort between our government and the authorities in the United States,” he said.
Decisions Taken Jointly, Actions Mutually Agreed
The APC spokesman further clarified that any actions taken on the ground would strictly reflect decisions jointly agreed upon by both governments.
“So I’m quite sure that whatever is agreed at the table is what they will do on the ground,” Morka stated.
He concluded by stressing that the overriding objective of the Nigeria–US collaboration is to protect Nigerians and decisively push back those responsible for terror attacks.
“But the emphasis here is that those who seek to kill our people are dealt with and pushed back severely,” he said.
Akahi News will continue to monitor developments surrounding Nigeria’s security partnerships and provide verified updates on efforts to combat terrorism nationwide.
