In a press release dated Tuesday, 21st October 2025, and obtained by Akahi News, the Movement described the circulating reports as false, fraudulent, and unauthorized, reaffirming that its sole endorsement remains Mr. George Moghalu, who was earlier backed by Peter Obi for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election.

No Official Endorsement

The statement, signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Movement, stated categorically that no official endorsement has been made for any other candidate apart from Moghalu.

“Any statements or representations suggesting otherwise are false and should be disregarded by the public,” the statement declared.

Akahi News gathered that the group insisted its mission is to promote transparency, accountability, and people-centred leadership, not partisan politics.

Independence from Political Parties

Dr. Tanko reiterated that the Obidient Movement remains independent and non-partisan, guided solely by principles of integrity and the pursuit of national transformation. He clarified that its support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election was based on merit and credibility, not party affiliation.

“Any individual or faction claiming to endorse other candidates does so in a personal capacity and not on behalf of the Obidient Movement,” Dr. Tanko said in the statement obtained by Akahi News.

Condemnation of False Claims

The Movement condemned the unauthorized use of its name, logo, or identity for political purposes, describing it as a blatant misrepresentation. It stressed that the Obidient Movement “does not participate in transactional politics or quid pro quo arrangements” and warned those attempting to exploit its goodwill for selfish or partisan gains.

According to Akahi News, the group expressed deep concern over the growing trend of false endorsements circulating online, urging the public to rely only on official communications from the Movement’s verified channels.

Commitment to Ethical Leadership

Reaffirming its vision for a new Nigeria, the Movement stated that it remains focused on promoting ethical and competent leadership across all levels of governance.

It also clarified that future political engagements, including discussions ahead of the 2027 presidential election, will be collectively decided and transparently announced through official platforms.

Call for Accountability

The Obidient Movement called on the media, general public, and political stakeholders to disregard any report linking it with the endorsement of Governor Soludo or any other candidate outside its declared stance.

“We reaffirm our commitment to building a Nigeria where leadership is anchored on competence, character, and the common good,” Dr. Tanko said.

He added that the Movement will continue to engage constructively across all divides while upholding its core values of independence, integrity, and transparency.
