In its announcement, the Ogun State Sector Command said the late commander would be remembered for his contributions to road safety administration and his commitment to improving compliance with traffic regulations.

The command expressed condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues and associates, describing his passing as deeply regrettable.

It added that further details concerning his funeral arrangements would be communicated when appropriate.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, FRSC Mourn Late Commander

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has also expressed sadness over Ogunjobi’s death, describing it as a painful loss to the corps, the road safety community and the country.

The governor commiserated with the FRSC Corps Marshal and the agency’s national leadership, as well as its officers and personnel across the country and the deceased’s family, friends and professional associates.

Abiodun highlighted Ogunjobi’s commitment to road safety administration, public enlightenment and stakeholder engagement, noting the importance of these responsibilities in protecting lives and property.

The governor also acknowledged the late commander’s role in promoting responsible road use and improving compliance with traffic regulations in Ogun State.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and urged his family, colleagues and associates to find strength in the service he rendered to the nation.

The FRSC’s national leadership equally expressed grief over the loss, describing it as another painful development for the agency following the recent death of former Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu.

Ogun Journalists Remember His Professionalism

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has also mourned Ogunjobi, describing his death as sudden and deeply saddening.

In a condolence message signed by the chapel’s Chairman, Yetunde Fatungase, and Secretary, Hakeem Adegbenro, the association praised his leadership, professionalism and commitment to the FRSC’s responsibilities.

The journalists recalled his willingness to engage with the media and his recognition of the importance of public communication in promoting road safety.

They noted that his accessibility and cooperative approach helped strengthen relations between the FRSC and journalists covering the agency’s activities in the state.

The chapel extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, the Ogun State Sector Command and the national leadership of the corps.

Road Safety Leadership Remains Critical

Ogun State occupies an important position in Nigeria’s transport network because of its strategic location and its major road connections with Lagos and other parts of the country.

The state’s highways serve commuters, commercial drivers, long-distance travellers and businesses transporting goods across the South-West and beyond.

Consequently, the work of the FRSC sector command is important to public safety, particularly through traffic enforcement, public education, stakeholder cooperation and efforts to encourage responsible driving.

Road safety officials face persistent challenges, including speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, poor vehicle maintenance and disregard for traffic regulations. Addressing these risks requires consistent enforcement alongside public education and cooperation among government agencies, transport unions and road users.

Ogunjobi’s reported contributions to public enlightenment and stakeholder engagement therefore formed part of the broader responsibilities required to improve road safety in the state.

His death represents a loss to colleagues who worked with him and to an institution whose responsibilities directly affect the safety of millions of road users.

Funeral Arrangements Yet to Be Announced

The Ogun State Sector Command said further information about Ogunjobi’s funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.

The announcement of his death has generated expressions of sympathy from government officials, colleagues and members of the media who worked with the late commander.

As tributes continue, attention will turn to supporting his bereaved family and ensuring continuity in the FRSC’s operations in Ogun State.

The death of Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi has left the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Ogun State road safety community and members of the journalism profession mourning a senior officer remembered for his leadership and commitment to public service.

The tributes from Governor Dapo Abiodun, the FRSC leadership and the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel reflect the importance of his professional relationships and his work in road safety administration.

While the circumstances of his death have been attributed to a brief illness, the command has yet to announce funeral arrangements.

His passing is a reminder of the dedication required of public officers responsible for protecting lives and the importance of sustained efforts to make Nigerian roads safer.
