Osun 2026: Omisore, Omoworare, Others United in Ile-Ife to Unseat Adeleke – APC Candidate Oyebamiji

Akahi News learnt that the 2026 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, has declared that former national party scribe Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Babajide Omoworare, and other prominent leaders have resolved to unseat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Speaking at a youth engagement programme held at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oyebamiji also noted that the party has strategised to record a resounding victory. The message was clear: the internal fractures that have plagued the Osun APC are healing—at least on paper.

But when political enemies become allies, is it genuine unity or the marriage of convenience? Only the 2026 ballot box will tell.

Youths Charged to End ‘Deceptive Governance’

Akahi News gathered that the gubernatorial candidate, represented by his deputy, Kayode Adereti, urged youths across the state to mobilise and take an active role in ending what he described as “deceptive governance” under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

He emphasised the need for collective action to reclaim the state from unfulfilled promises, assuring that the APC remains committed to delivering people-oriented governance by restoring transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

“Our youths should maintain peace across the state and come out in mass and exercise their rights dutifully to vote for us as the best candidate for the Osun gubernatorial seat. Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji is ready to lead our state back to the state of pride among the comity of states,” he said.

It was alleged that the APC is particularly confident about its chances in Ife land. According to Oyebamiji, the party stands strong in the ancient city, with all leaders in unison to ensure victory.

“In Ife land, APC stands strong; the unity of purpose to defeat the incumbent Governor is in place. All the leaders of APC are in unison to ensure that we have a resounding victory in the federal constituency. All our leaders from Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Omoworare, former deputy governor, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin and all other leaders in Ife South, East and Central are all in one accord to chase away PDP/Accord away from government,” he declared.

That is a bold claim. Omisore and Omoworare have not always seen eye to eye. If they are truly united, Adeleke’s camp should be worried. If the unity is fragile, however, the APC could implode before the election even begins.

Door-to-Door Campaign Strategy Unveiled

The APC zonal Youth Leader, Barrister Adesuyi Daramola, urged youths to start a rigorous door-to-door campaign for Oyebamiji in 2026 and President Bola Tinubu in 2027, asserting that victory is sure for the party in the coming days.

The convener of the youth stakeholder meeting, Olayioye Alabi, explained that “youths are the powerhouse of the party, hence there is a need to get them on board for the coming poll in Osun. We will mobilise more youths for the party to ensure victory.”

Akahi News had earlier reported on the growing influence of youth voters in Osun State. The last election proved that young people can sway results. Both the APC and the PDP know this. That is why both parties are scrambling to lock in the youth vote.

It is not a child’s play to unseat an incumbent governor in Osun. Adeleke remains popular, especially among the grassroots. His dance moves, his music, his everyman persona—these are not just gimmicks. They have translated into genuine political capital.

But the APC believes that the governor’s promises have not matched his performance. “Deceptive governance” is the label they are sticking on him. Whether voters agree will determine the outcome of 2026.

For now, Oyebamiji has made his pitch. The leaders of Ife APC have supposedly closed ranks. The youth are being mobilised. And the target is clear: remove Adeleke from the Government House in Osogbo.

Osun State is once again becoming a political battlefield. And as the drums of 2026 grow louder, both sides are sharpening their weapons. Words are being exchanged. Alliances are being tested. Votes are being courted.

The people of Osun will have the final say. But between now and then, expect more declarations, more strategies, and more political drama. That is the Osun way.
