Senator Jarigbe Slams Primate Ayodele, Labels Him a ‘Prophet of Doom’

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom, has taken a strong swipe at Primate Elijah Ayodele, dismissing his prophecies as false and inducement-driven.

In a statement shared with his supporters, Senator Jarigbe made it clear that he remains a devout Catholic and has no ties to what he described as “Primate Ayodele’s fake prophecy home.”

“I Don’t Worship in Ayodele’s Fake Prophecy Home”

The outspoken lawmaker categorically stated that he would not be swayed by Ayodele’s predictions, describing the cleric as belonging to the category of “fake prophets” whose prophecies are allegedly influenced by material inducements rather than divine inspiration.

“There are true Prophets, and there are fake Prophets. Ayodele belongs to the latter,” Jarigbe declared, while urging his “amiable supporters” to ignore what he called “the insinuations of the prophet of doom.”

Scriptural Standpoint

Reaffirming his faith, the senator cited Lamentations 3:36-37, a passage that underscores the sovereignty of God over human intentions, suggesting that no one can speak or act against God’s will and expect it to stand.

His remarks come amid growing debates over the role of religious prophecies in Nigeria’s political sphere, where several clerics have often predicted political outcomes—sometimes controversially.

Public Reactions

Jarigbe’s comments have already stirred reactions among political observers and religious followers, with some praising his boldness while others call for caution in criticising religious leaders, especially those with large followings.

Nonetheless, the senator maintained that his faith in God and the Catholic Church remains unshaken, urging his supporters to remain focused and not be distracted by what he termed as “doom-laden prophecies.”

As of press time, Primate Ayodele had yet to issue a formal response to the senator’s remarks.
