Stop Using EFCC Probes to Blackmail Tinubu, APC Chieftain Warns Opposition
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has cautioned opposition politicians against linking ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to attempts at blackmailing President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye stressed that the EFCC’s actions were strictly constitutional and in line with international best practices, noting that political affiliation does not grant immunity from scrutiny.
EFCC Mandate Is Non-Partisan
According to him, the investigations currently being carried out on some former opposition governors and political appointees are based on credible petitions and not political witch-hunts. He emphasised that members of the ruling APC have also been subjected to EFCC probes whenever petitions alleging financial misconduct were raised against them.
“The EFCC has a mandate to investigate financial infractions against anyone, irrespective of political affiliations. Linking the President to the investigation of alleged financial infractions by opposition members in the name of politics is totally wrong,” Oyintiloye said.
Call for Opposition to Prove Innocence
The APC stalwart urged opposition figures under investigation to desist from politicising EFCC operations and instead focus on clearing their names through due process. He insisted that President Tinubu remains committed to integrity and accountability and would not shield corrupt politicians, whether in the ruling or opposition parties.
“Whether you are a member of the ruling party or opposition, you are not immune to financial investigation. I want to caution members of the opposition parties to stop politicising what the EFCC is doing and prove their innocence, if any,” he added.
“No Room for Graft Under Tinubu”
Oyintiloye described President Tinubu as “a man of honour and integrity” who would not compromise his principles for political considerations. He warned that corrupt politicians hiding under opposition platforms in an attempt to evade justice would still be exposed and prosecuted.
“So, it is no longer business as usual. More of the corrupt politicians hiding in opposition parties with the intent to blackmail the President to get themselves off the hook will still be arrested. No room for graft under the Tinubu administration,” Oyintiloye concluded.
