The popular Facebook page, “The Voice Channel”, a major online information hub for the Yala community and beyond, has been temporarily suspended by Facebook following what was described as “recommendation restrictions” linked to certain videos flagged for allegedly violating the platform’s community guidelines.

Akahi News learnt that the development came as a shock to many followers who rely heavily on the page for updates, discussions, and community engagement. The page, widely known among Yala sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora, has grown into a digital meeting point where cultural, social and developmental issues are shared, discussed and documented.
According to information gathered by Akahi News in a telephone conversation with the Director of The Voice Channel, Facebook restricted the page’s visibility and reach after some of its video content was reportedly flagged by the platform’s automated systems. This, in turn, led to a temporary suspension pending further review.
The Director revealed that immediate steps were taken to contact Facebook for clarification and possible resolution. However, as of the time of filing this report, he had yet to receive a favourable response from the Facebook review team.
“We have reached out to Facebook to reconsider their action. The intention of our content has always been to inform, educate and connect our people. We are hopeful that the matter will be resolved soon,” the Director told Akahi News.
A Community Hub Suddenly Silenced
For many within the Yala community, The Voice Channel is more than just a Facebook page. It serves as a virtual community square — a place where local news, cultural updates, village development matters, and important announcements are shared.
Akahi News gathered that the suspension has sparked concern among followers who fear that a major link connecting them to happenings in their hometown has been cut off. Some community members described the page as “a digital village hall” where voices are heard and stories preserved.
Over time, the platform gained popularity for spotlighting community projects, highlighting pressing issues, and giving ordinary people a voice in discussions that matter to them. The sudden halt in its operation has therefore left a noticeable gap in information flow.
An Appeal to Facebook for Fair Review
In light of the development, Akahi News is joining the Director and concerned community members in appealing to Facebook to urgently and fairly review the situation. Observers believe that while online safety rules must be respected, genuine platforms serving informational and cultural purposes should be given the opportunity for proper assessment and reconsideration.
The appeal is not only for the reinstatement of the page but also for creators in similar situations to receive clearer explanations and faster responses when their content is restricted or removed.
Backup Page Introduced for Continued Updates
To ensure there is no total break in communication, the Director has introduced a backup Facebook page titled “De Voice Info”. He has called on his thousands of followers to immediately locate and follow the new page in order to stay connected with recent and subsequent updates.
According to Akahi News, the backup page is designed to continue the same informative and community-centred mission that The Voice Channel is known for, at least until the suspension issue is resolved.

Looking Ahead
While the situation remains unresolved, many in the community are hopeful that Facebook will review the flagged content with fairness and reinstate the page if no deliberate violation is found. Akahi News will continue to monitor developments surrounding this issue and provide updates as they unfold.
For now, followers of The Voice Channel are encouraged to remain calm, show support, and connect through the backup platform as the review process continues.
