Tinubu Arrives in Abu Dhabi for 2026 Sustainability Week Summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a major global forum focused on energy innovation and sustainable development.
The President’s aircraft touched down at Zayed International Airport at about 11:30 pm local time, where he was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Visit at Invitation of UAE President
Akahi News gathered that President Tinubu is in the UAE at the official invitation of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, underscoring the deepening diplomatic and economic ties between both countries.
The annual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week brings together world leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and civil society organisations to deliberate on pressing global challenges surrounding energy transition, climate action, and the financial infrastructure needed to support renewable energy development.
Nigeria’s Green Energy Push
According to an earlier statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit highlights the strengthening alliance between Nigeria and the UAE, particularly in the areas of green energy, climate finance, and broader economic cooperation.

It was further disclosed that President Tinubu will use the summit to position Nigeria as a key player in sustainable development, while seeking to attract foreign investments and build strategic partnerships aligned with the country’s national growth and development objectives.
Focus of the 2026 Summit
The 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go.” The programme is designed to bridge the gap between climate ambition and concrete action, with discussions structured around three core pillars: innovation, finance, and people.
Observers say Nigeria’s participation at the high-level summit offers an opportunity to showcase its renewable energy potential, climate initiatives, and reform agenda to a global audience, while strengthening its voice in international sustainability conversations.
As the summit progresses, Akahi News will continue to monitor engagements and outcomes from President Tinubu’s participation, particularly those with implications for Nigeria’s energy transition and economic development drive.
