Popular Nigerian media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa, has shared an emotional account of her journey to motherhood, dispelling long-held misconceptions about her love life and clarifying her views on men. Just days after she stunned fans with the announcement that she is expecting her first child, the On-Air Personality (OAP) has now revealed intimate details about the experience and the prayers that preceded it.

She revealed that she conceived in December 2024, just a month after marking her 40th birthday in November. To her, the timing was nothing short of divine.

“The popular belief out there is that I bash men, I hate men. It’s never been the truth. I’m a hopeless romantic. People did not know that I was depressed. Till now, people did not know why I did that thanksgiving service and I’ve never talked about it till this moment. At the start, I told God I want to turn 40 a mum. I turned 40 in November and He did it December. He didn’t fail. God is never late. He just didn’t do it the way I thought it was gonna happen,” she said.

Toke described her pregnancy as a testament to God’s perfect timing, noting that life does not always unfold according to personal plans, but divine intervention always delivers at the right moment.

The media star also used the opportunity to clear the air on a long-standing public perception that she harbours resentment towards men. “I’m a hopeless romantic at heart,” she reiterated, emphasising that her advocacy for women and vocal stance on relationship issues have been wrongly labelled as ‘man-bashing.’
