Good morning, my dear people of God.
Today, Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi’s reflection invites us to pause and reflect on the question: “Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord? Who shall dwell in His holy place?” The answer lies not in status, wealth, or worldly achievement, but in the life of integrity, sincerity, and devotion.
Living a Life of Integrity
Scripture reminds us: “The man with clean hands and a pure heart, who desires not worthless things, who has not sworn so as to deceive his neighbour.” This teaches that God values purity of heart and honesty of action. It is a call to examine our intentions, to ensure our actions align with God’s will, and to avoid anything that might compromise our integrity.
In a world filled with distractions and temptations, maintaining a clean heart requires conscious effort. Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi encourages believers to seek holiness not only outwardly but deeply within. True righteousness begins in the heart and is expressed in every word and action.
Gratitude: The Beginning of Every Day
The reflection begins with a powerful prayer of thanksgiving:
“Eternal Father, loving God, early in the morning, we rise up to praise your holy name. Thank you for the gift of a new bright day and for the good things in it for our benefits. Our prayer of thanksgiving adds nothing to your greatness but profits us for salvation. Accept our thanksgiving, Lord.”
Starting the day with gratitude is transformative. It shifts our focus from challenges to blessings and reminds us of God’s constant presence and provision. Every morning offers a chance to renew our commitment to live faithfully and trust in His guidance.
Following God’s Precepts with Our Hearts
Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi emphasises the importance of understanding and following God’s commandments sincerely:
“Lord God, as we continue our journey of faith on earth, teach us the demands of your precepts. Train us to observe your law and keep it with our hearts. Guide us in the path of your commands; bend our hearts to your will and not to love of gain.”
This prayer is a reminder that living a faithful life requires more than mere compliance. It demands a heart aligned with God’s will, a heart that values righteousness over material gain, and a spirit that seeks divine guidance in every step.
Trusting in God: The Strength of Mount Zion
One of the most encouraging messages in today’s reflection is the comparison of believers who trust in God to Mount Zion:
“Mighty God, those who put their trust in you are like mountain Zion that cannot be shaken. Uphold us and empower us as we go about our activities this day. Meet us at our points of need, and may your grace be sufficient for us.”
This metaphor underscores the stability and resilience that faith in God provides. Life may present challenges and uncertainties, but those anchored in God’s truth remain steadfast, unshaken by trials, and confident in His providence.
Carrying Today’s Reflection into Our Lives
Rev. Fr Peter Adeyemi concludes with a heartfelt invitation: to carry the message of purity, integrity, and trust into every aspect of life. As we move through our daily activities, may we allow God’s guidance to shape our decisions, interactions, and choices. Our lives should reflect the holiness and steadfastness that God desires, becoming a living testimony to His grace.
Today’s reflection is a call to action, reminding us that true faith is active, consistent, and rooted in a sincere heart. Let us be vigilant, grateful, and faithful, ensuring that our lives mirror the teachings of God and the prayers of the righteous.
