Faithful across Nigeria and beyond are invited to join a powerful moment of worship and renewal as the Osogbo Catholic Diocese celebrates the 2026 Chrism Mass today, Tuesday, 31st March 2026.
The sacred liturgy, which is one of the most significant celebrations in the Catholic Church, will be presided over by the Bishop of Osogbo Catholic Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. John Akinkunmi Oyejola, at St Benedict Catholic Cathedral, Osogbo, Osun State.

Akahi News gathered that this year’s Chrism Mass will feature a special highlight—the commissioning of 25 couples drawn from various parishes across the Diocese. These couples, having undergone rigorous spiritual and practical formation, will be officially sent forth as agents of evangelisation, particularly in strengthening Christian family life and promoting lasting peace in marriages.
A Significant Moment for the Diocese
The Chrism Mass traditionally brings together priests, religious, and the lay faithful in unity, during which sacred oils are blessed for use throughout the liturgical year. This year’s celebration, however, carries added significance with the commissioning of trained couples who will play vital roles within their parishes and communities.
Akahi News learnt that the initiative reflects the Diocese’s renewed commitment to deepening faith at the grassroots level, especially through family-centred evangelisation.
