Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress might lose its bearing fully by 2023 if the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, was allowed to proceed to run its affairs.
Okorocha claimed that Oshiomhole was additionally responsible for the party’s failure to seize or retain some states throughout the February and March normal elections.
The Imo governor, who’s battling to get a Certificate of Return to the Senate from the Independent National Electoral Commission, spoke with State House correspondents in Abuja after he held a gathering with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He raised a specific subject regarding the zoning of the principal places of work of the ninth National Assembly, noting that it might seem that the party had concluded to disregard the South-East.
Okorocha acknowledged that ignoring the South-East is perhaps the start of actual hassle for the APC forward of 2023.
The governor mentioned,
“I’ve been watching fastidiously what is occurring within the National Assembly; it’s a very attention-grabbing drama. But, all I ask of them is that they need to think about the South-East of their calculations.
“This nation is not going to be correctly balanced if the South-East is just not carried alongside correctly within the affairs of the National Assembly. Nobody appears to be speaking concerning the South-East; it seems to be just like the South-East doesn’t have a spot anymore.
That is mistaken, politically talking and that won’t be good for APC. Because there’s going to be an even bigger APC after President Muhammadu Buhari will need to have left the seat.
“My concern now’s that APC might have a critical set again in 2023 as a result of the Oshiomhole-led govt is definitely turning APC right into a regional minority party, which shouldn’t be. Right now in the entire of South-East, we don’t have an APC governor.
So, if there’s any dialogue in Nigeria now inside the APC governors and President Muhammadu Buhari, there shall be no person from the Sout- East. This is what the APC chairman has achieved within the South-East.”
On his incapability to get his certificates of return, Okorocha once more blamed the issue partly on the management of the party, which he mentioned didn’t appear to hassle.
He added, “You know the imposition we suffered within the party. When you say the party, you discuss concerning the management of that party. I don’t have an issue with the working committee of that party.
I solely have an issue with the chairman of that party, who took it upon himself to do the mistaken factor in opposition to me for simply no trigger and to struggle a battle that he can by no means win.”
