El-Rufai Denies Corruption, Dares Leaders to Qur’an Oath, Announces 2027 Political Return

Former Kaduna Governor Nasiru El-Rufai has declared that he can swear by the Holy Qur’an to affirm his innocence regarding allegations of stealing public funds during his time in office. He challenged his predecessors and other leaders to make the same oath.

Speaking in Hausa on a live program on Freedom Radio Kaduna, El-Rufai emphasized that he entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich himself, stating that he was financially secure before becoming governor.

“I did not go into politics to steal money. I was content with what I had before becoming governor. I am willing to swear with the Qur’an to prove my innocence if other former governors and current leaders will do the same,” he said.

El-Rufai, who governed Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023, dismissed accusations of financial misappropriation, noting that no evidence has been provided to support such claims.

“My aides are being questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but there is no proof of missing funds or who took them,” he added.

He stated that he has left his fate to Allah’s judgment and has sought divine guidance in all his actions. Additionally, El-Rufai has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those tarnishing his reputation.

“I am not concerned. I know I never took public funds, and I will remain focused on my personal pursuits, like reading and writing,” he said.

El-Rufai also revealed his plans to return to politics in 2027 after completing his studies, reiterating his commitment to public service.
