ADC Warns Bolaji Abdullahi Against Parading as Party Spokesperson
By Joseph Iyaji | Akahi News
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a strong warning to Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, cautioning him against parading himself as the party’s Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson.
In a statement on Thursday, the Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Office of the National Chairman, Dr. Christopher O. Okechukwu, described Abdullahi’s claim to the role as misleading, unauthorized, and a violation of established party protocols.
ADC’s Position
“The ADC finds it imperative to address a matter of significant concern regarding the representation of our esteemed party. It has come to our attention that Malam Bolaji Abdullahi has been presenting himself as the Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson of the ADC. This assertion is not only misleading but also a violation of the established protocols that govern the appointment of individuals to such critical positions within our party,” the statement read.
Dr. Okechukwu outlined the eligibility criteria for anyone seeking the position, including being a registered and active member of the ADC, obtaining a nomination form with endorsements from at least three party members across the 36 states and the FCT, and being elected at the party’s National Convention.
He maintained that Abdullahi had not fulfilled any of these requirements, making his claim “unauthorized” and damaging to the party’s credibility.
Warning to Media Houses
The ADC also urged journalists and media organisations to exercise caution by refraining from recognising Abdullahi as its official spokesperson.
“It is crucial that media outlets refrain from recognizing Malam Bolaji Abdullahi as an official spokesperson of the ADC. By doing so, they will contribute to maintaining the accuracy, authenticity, and reliability of their reporting, which is vital for public trust and informed discourse,” Okechukwu stressed.
Upholding Party Integrity
The party reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles, transparency, and accountability, noting that only duly elected and authorised individuals are permitted to speak on its behalf.
“The ADC remains focused on its mission to serve the Nigerian people and promote the ideals of good governance,” the statement added.
