Shocking Revelations Emerge as ‘Gentle the Yahoo’ Linked to Robbery, Killings in Okigwe

Fresh details have emerged linking a notorious figure identified as Gentle the Yahoo to a wave of violent crimes in Okigwe, Imo State, despite an online video portraying him as opposed to robbery and other vices.

Investigations gathered by Akahi News suggest that the killings of three young men allegedly connected to him were not an act of justice, but rather part of an internal dispute over robbery proceeds.

How the Dispute Began

It was alleged that the three boys belonged to a camp under one Hero, who himself is said to operate under Gentle. The boys reportedly took part in a robbery using weapons supplied through their chain of command without proper authorisation.

During the operation, they allegedly stole ₦400,000 and a motorcycle. Trouble began when the victim recognised one of the assailants, identified as Njoko, and called him by name. Fearing exposure, Njoko allegedly shot the victim dead.

The gunshot drew the attention of rival groups in the area, who pursued the gang but later released them after they introduced themselves as “Hero’s boys.”

Betrayal and Brutal Consequence

Upon returning to camp, the boys were accused of keeping the proceeds for themselves instead of handing them over to Hero, as tradition within the group demanded. Reports indicate that Gentle later got wind of the incident.

The suspects were allegedly arrested and interrogated, but continued to deny involvement. To protect his own image and divert blame for rising crimes in the region, Gentle is said to have executed them on camera and circulated the footage online.

Community Under Siege

Locals told journalists that Okigwe has suffered a surge of robberies, kidnappings, and unexplained disappearances, with many fingers pointing towards Gentle’s criminal network. The recent killings, analysts say, appear to be more of “damage control” than genuine enforcement of discipline.

Residents have since called on security agencies to intensify operations in Okigwe and bring to justice those behind the recurring wave of terror in the region.
