Amotekun Arrests 20-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Defilement of Seven-Year-Old Hearing-Impaired Girl in Ekiti
The Ekiti State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested a 20-year-old man, Dare Omoyajowo, over the alleged defilement of a seven-year-old girl who is both hearing and speech impaired in Are-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to information obtained by Akahi News, the incident reportedly occurred on Friday, prompting swift intervention by operatives of the corps following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.

Incident Reported in Are-Ekiti
According to reports by Veracity News, the Head of Communications of the Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Adeleye Adewale, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. He disclosed that the victim’s mother raised the alarm after her daughter returned home in distress and later communicated the incident through sign language due to her condition.
Akahi News gathered that the complaint led to immediate action by Amotekun operatives in the area, who launched an investigation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
Suspect Allegedly Confessed During Interrogation
Adewale explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the minor into his apartment before committing the act. He added that the suspect reportedly admitted to the offence during interrogation by officers attached to the Ifedara Local Council Development Area in Are-Ekiti.
The victim was said to have been rescued shortly after the incident, following intervention by residents who became alert to her distress.
Suspect Handed Over to Police
According to the Amotekun spokesperson, the suspect has since been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado-Ekiti for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with the law.
Akahi News gathered that this arrest comes barely days after the Amotekun Corps apprehended another suspect, identified as Olapade Ifeoluwa, over the alleged defilement of another seven-year-old girl in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti South-West Local Government Area.
In that earlier case, residents reportedly intervened after hearing the child’s cry, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Rising Concerns Over Child Abuse in Ekiti
The recent incidents have raised renewed concerns about child safety and sexual violence in parts of Ekiti State. Security observers say the trend underscores the need for stronger community vigilance, public enlightenment, and swift justice to deter such crimes.
Earlier in December, the Ekiti Amotekun Corps also confirmed the arrest of five suspects linked to offences including kidnapping, attempted abduction, and fraud across different parts of the state.
Call for Vigilance and Justice
Security experts and child rights advocates have continued to call on parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly. They also urge authorities to ensure that perpetrators face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent.
Akahi News will continue to monitor developments and provide verified updates as investigations progress.
