An early morning explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has triggered panic among residents and hospital staff, prompting an immediate security response from law enforcement agencies.
Akahi News gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30, 2025, sending shockwaves across the hospital environment and surrounding community.

Security Agencies Move In Swiftly
According to information obtained by Akahi News, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the explosion and revealed that a joint security team comprising police officers, military personnel, and local vigilante groups was swiftly deployed to secure the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman Anisma, disclosed that specialised Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) units were immediately mobilised to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
No Casualties Recorded, Building Damaged
While the blast caused significant alarm, authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded. However, one of the buildings within the hospital’s staff quarters reportedly sustained structural damage.
According to police sources, occupants of the affected building were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure to prevent further harm.
Akahi News learnt that security operatives have since reinforced their presence in and around the hospital premises to prevent any secondary incidents and to reassure residents.
Investigation Ongoing as Public Urged to Remain Calm
The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. While details remain sketchy, officials have urged residents to remain calm and avoid the vicinity of the hospital to allow investigators carry out their duties without interference.
“Members of the public are advised to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue,” the police spokesperson said.
